VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An emotional meeting today for a Burnaby family and a 911 operator in Vancouver. It follows the unintentional home birth of a baby boy.
The family was given the opportunity to meet and thank the operator who helped deliver their son three months ago. Samy Rabah was born at home, with dad following Tara Beaubien’s instructions over the phone.
Beaubien has been honoured with the B.C. Ambulance Stork Award for her role in baby Samy’s birth and she says the experience was more nerve wracking for her, adding it was her first delivery.
Mom Tracy says it all happened so fast. “I didn’t even think about it. I just knew that it was happening and it was happening now.” Dad Safouen adds there is relief Samy and Tracy are doing great. “We’re just so incredibly lucky and blessed.”
